When the engine is rapidly accelerated, the
needle will drop to a low reading, but not zero. |

When the throttle is suddenly released during
acceleration, the needle will jump to a higher
then normal reading. |

Worn Rings
or Diluted Oil
When the engine is rapidly accelerated, the
needle will drop to 0 inches. When the throttle
is released, the needle will jump to a reading
above 22 inches. |

Sticking
Valve or Valves
When the needle remains steady within the normal
range, but occasionally drops about 4 inches
very quickly, then back to normal. |
